Discipleship

Introduction to Sermon Series Go, Disciple and Grow. What is Discipleship, who is a disciple of Christ.

September 2017

Take Every Thought Captive (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

We often hear the expression “action speaks louder than words”. But what drives our actions and words? How are these actions and words formed? As a disciple and follower of Jesus Christ, how effective is our testimony (through our action and words) to point the unbelieving world to the love of the Father as demonstrated by the death of His Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross?

Let us come together this Sunday and allow the Spirit of the Lord to teach us the importance of the mind that is wholly submitted and obedient to God. Blessings.

After Hurricane Harvey (1 John 3:16 -18)

Hurricane Harvey left us all with feelings of discomfort, fear, and despair.  But God, being rich in mercy, answered our prayers. He never abandoned us in the midst of this great storm.  Most of us are fortunate because there are many other people in our state that were greatly affected- families who have lost loved ones and families who have lost their belongings. When compared to others in need, we are blessed.  So the question now is, are we willing to help others who are less fortunate?

FPBC, now is the time to display Christ’s love in action and in truth. Join us this Sunday as we discuss God’s call to help those in need.

Hope of Glory (2 Corinthians 3:5-12)

What is hope? How important is hope in the life of a believer, especially in our time and age? What is the difference, if any, between the biblical and the worldly definition of hope? What is so glorious about the Christian hope? Do you know of anyone who is struggling with hopelessness? How can you and I, as followers of Jesus Christ, minister to the hopeless and darkened world? I pray that the Lord Jesus Christ will open the eyes of our hearts and ears of understanding as we gather this coming Sunday to worship the One True Living God. In HIs Name Alone.

Comfort & Suffering (2 Corinthians 1: 3-11)

We all have experience comfort and suffering in our lives. Maybe you are currently going through some trials and suffering? As followers of Christ, how do we respond to this season of suffering? As followers of Christ, how can we help the people around us who are suffering?

Join us this Sunday as we discuss the topic of Comfort & Suffering.

Raised With Him (1 Corinthians 15: 1 – 11)

Do you believe that Jesus rose from the grave?
Do you believe you will also rise from the grave?

Join us this Sunday as we unravel the truth to these questions and look at the importance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

One Body, Many Parts (1 Corinthians 11-14)

Recently I paid $1.25 for gasoline, drove as fast as 110, and received more than $2 in change whenever I made purchases in cash.  Of course I’m talking about my family’s recent trip to Canada where they sell gasoline in litres, drive in km/hr, and use $1 and $2 coins in everyday transactions.

Context really makes a difference when one is trying to get their point across.  Otherwise confusion and division can result instead from a misunderstand

Mistaken Identity (1 Corinthians 4 – 9)

God calls His people to be a light to the world. As followers of Christ, we have a new identity in God. But when we fail to exhibit our new identity, we then have mistaken identity- one that reflects the sins and darkness of the world.

What do we do when we have a crisis of mistaken identity? How can we overcome the power of sin and darkness in this world? How can we shine God’s light in our lives, family, and city?

This Sunday we will look at God’s word for the solution to our mistaken identity and how to overcome darkness.
Join us at 11 am at FPBC

Unity In The Body (1 Corinthians 1: 1-17)

We are starting a new sermon series this Sunday on the book of Corinthians with the series theme “Light in the Darkness”. In his first letter to the Church in Corinth, Paul reminded the believers that they have been enriched with all kinds of wisdom, knowledge and spiritual gifts to empower them as messengers of the Gospel of Christ. He challenged them to be united in mind and thought as they live out their calling to be Salt and Light in the world. How can we achieve this unit

Living Sacrifice (Romans 12)

I imagine you have found yourself at some point in your life where you sacrifice your time, energy, money, heart, and passion on a career, significant other, friends, dream. But in the end, it still left you empty, hurt, and lost.
It doesn’t matter how old you are or what stage you are in your relationship God, or if you really don’t have a relationship with God.
We sacrifice our bodies and give all our devotion to a career, significant o
